Calibrated Release shear pin recommendations:

TINNIES / BOATS – 3M TO 6M

BOATS – 6M TO 9M
3 -4mm pin  (shear pressure - approx.60 - 100KGs) 4mm pins (shear pressure - approx. 100KGs) 
After a few test runs you may prefer the 4mm or 5mm pin- your choice. Larger heavy boats over 6.metres may choose to up-grade to a 5mm pin (shear pressure - approx. 180 - 200 kgs)

Heavy Duty 5mm SS pins supplied - 250 Kgs

PINS SUPPLIED WITH YOUR ORDER - EASILY REPLACED AT A HARDWARE STORE

  • - 10 x 3mm, 4mm and 5mm zinc coated bolts and wingnuts - Total - 30
  • -Extra 5 x 4mm & 5mm Heavy Duty SS pins, for even more holding in tougher conditions - 200 to 250 kgs
  • 1 x non - release Emergency pin.

These will last a lengthy period when used correctly. Purchase at any hardware store.

Do not use nails or any hardened material which defeats the purpose of the Boomer. A hard material may not shear and damage the Boomer or your boat.

(*) The Boomer Anchor is a general purpose anchor, extremely capable in trying conditions. However, it is not a storm anchor. Marine Rescue organisations recommend carrying a backup anchoring system.
